i-Skin Pore Perfecting System -- Review

Hey all. I know it's been awhile since I posted something. But I was without inet for awhile. Sorry! But I'm back and with a new review on an item I recently bought at Sally's Beauty ^_^

This item is: i-Skin Pore Perfecting System.
I bought it because I was looking for something similar to the Clairsonic. That item is way over priced lol But I saw a review on the i-Skin and thought, why not? So I bought it and it was on sale so yeah lol

Anyway, it works like a dream! After the first use I saw a noticeable difference in my pores and my blemishes started to fade like the next day. I was like "WOW" lol So this gets my approval because lately I been having some major skin issues with blemishes and stuff. Probably because I've been a lil stressed lately >.< But this item works and I give it 5 stars. so go check it out! :D

Beauty Reviews and Such

Hello again!
Today..or tonight rather (lol) I'm going to do a few reviews on some beauty tips I have been trying out lately. not really products, just beauty tips I have picked up here and there. :3

Beauty Tip #1: Applying Vaseline or any petroleum jelly to your hands prior to sleeping. This actually does work wonders for your hands and cuticles. You put a thick(not too thick tho) layer of the jelly over your hands before bed and cover your hands with cotton gloves(or rubber gloves work too I guess..I used latex lol) and in the morning you remove the gloves and wash your hands. They are way softer than they were the night before! It actually works. I have super dry hands and cuticles in the winter, so this saved my fingers at work a LOT. =)

Beauty Tip #2: Using Vaseline/Petroleum jelly to remove makeup.
This works too. Tho i also like using EVOO(extra virgin olive oil) to remove my makeup as well. Tho the EVOO can get kinda expensive depending on how much I use..(I use it for other things) Doesn't really irritate your eyes either, but i'd recommend not using too much and NOT getting it in your eye neither. Better safe than sorry.

Beauty Tip #3: Castor oil to help hair grow.
Now, this works pretty good for growing my eyebrows. I have pretty long lashes right now so I don't know if it works on them as well. I'm told it does. but I don't need to use it on my lashes so... lol Anyway. I use a mascara brush to apply the oil(again, not too much) to my eyebrows where I want the hair to grow and to thicken up. I tried this because I wanted to try the thicker eyebrow look as opposed to my old thinned out eyebrows. I really like it allot better now. =) Though it still takes awhile to grow them. Took me like 3 weeks to a month to start seeing good results..but then again I didn't do it every night xD;

Beauty tip #4: Exfoliating your lips with Vaseline and a toothbrush.
This works wonders to make your lips smoother, softer, and more kissable! Oh my god does it work. lol I like to use my electric toothbrush..but I don't have any soft heads for it right now. I guess I could buy a new cheap one but...meh lol A regular soft bristled toothbrush will work too. Just brush very softly with very little pressure. And not too much vaseline. Just enough that you know it's there. Most of it will just rubbed off by the toothbrush. And what doesn't you'll be rinsing off after wards. After you think you are don't smoothing out your lips just rinse with warm water and wipe off your lips. Then just apply your favorite lip balm. see how soft your lips are ^_^

Beauty Tip #5: Olive oil Aftershave.
I don't know if it works on the face, cuz I don't shave my face LOL But I do shave my arms. And after just one use of this the other night after I had shaved my much needed shaven legs..they were really soft! I just applied enough to both my legs after shaving from the shower then applied some body butter(any lotion will do I think tho) and my legs stayed soft and newly shaved after that. They still look newly shaved! No bumps or anything. A total must try for any lady looking to have soft legs well after shaving.

Well that's all for now. It's late and i can't think of much else to write lol
So until next time ♥

February: The Raciest Month

February is Black History month. So, it promotes racism in blacks. One of the reasons we haven't been able to get past the whole race issue in America.

Now, I know you all are saying that I'm raciest for saying that. And that's what I mean.
We shouldn't have holidays, events, or whole months to make us feel better about who we are or what our race is. It just promotes hate in my opinion.

Why can't we just put it behind us? Yeah I understand your ancestors were slaves. My ancestors owned them. That has nothing to do with you or me and anyone from the here and now. Absolutely nothing! If I didn't do it to you and you didn't do it to me then I really don't understand WHY we have the race issue.

Blacks aren't slaves anymore. There is no reason to bring up the past and hate because of it.
Put it behind you. You have to learn from the past. Not live in it. Move forward. Can't be going backwards.

Lypsyl -- Review

Okay..remember that I wrote about Lypsyl and how I liked it?
Well it's been about a week I think now and I can safely say that this is NOT a product that I want to be using on my lips at all.

It felt great the first couple of days but near the end of the week that I had been using it, it dried out my lips to the point of pain. Now my lips are so dry that even vaseline is having a hard time healing them. That isn't a good thing!

I don't know what it is that's in this product that made my lips dry out so badly, but whatever it was it was bad. I've never had a lip balm do this. Not even chapstick did this to my lips in such a short amount of time! I had high hopes for this product too..it was cruelty-free and came in such a cute applicator. *pouty face* Boo..

So I bought another product to hopefully combat the effects of this product in addition to the vaseline. Hopefully it helps. If it does then I will post another product review on it. Until then, chao~

Tap Water -vs- Bottled Water

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Bottled water. It's one of the things we buy without even thinking about it..Right? Well we should be thinking about it.

I just watched a documentary about bottled water. It was called Tapped. Very eye opening to say the least. I couldn't believe how bad drinking bottled water was. Not only for the enviroment, but for ourselves too. I didn't know that the plastic bottles could leach out into the water itself over time. So re-using these bottles is so not an option anymore.

Me and Wes are moving into a new place in about a week, so as soon as I'm able to I'm going to invest in a water filter. At least then I can be sure that the water I'm drinking is 100% pure water and nothing else.

Just...wow. I had no idea bottled water could be bad for you.

Still searching..

For more products in real stores that are cruelty-free. *sigh* it's really hard to find them since not many of them are on the west-side of the U.S. I hate buying stuff online unless I know it works for me. At least if I buy it in-store then I don't have to pay for shipping lol :/

Anyway. I found a few other products that I will be using from now on. One is a lip balm that I just discovered at Walgreens. I looked it up before buying it of course and it is cruelty-free. They really need to put that on the label. lol

It's called Lypsyl. Here's a picture: Image and video hosting by TinyPic
It feels really good on my lips. I got the original lip balm in a tube. It's made out of Swedish Beeswax, Organic Shea Butter, and Coconut Oil. It has a refreshing mint scent/flavor to it too. Kinda wakes you up. xD

I just started using it, but so far I like it. =]

Next is TRESemmé hair products. Totally 100% cruelty-free. I used to use this stuff but switched due to the price(my frugal boyfriend convinced me) but since now I am trying to at least do my part in NOT supporting companies who do animal testing, I'm going to switch back to this brand once I run out of my current shampoo.

Now, I know by using these products I already bought is bad or whatever, but I already bought them before knowing they were tested on animals. The companies already have my money so I really don't see the gain I get or the loss they lose by me throwing what I already bought in the trash. Just trying to be economic and logical here.

I think that's all for now. I did want to mention that I cannot stop buying ALL animal tested products. Like my household items for cleaning, my hygienic stuff, or my medications. Simply because there are no other brands available to me right now within my price range. And like I said before, I don't like or want to buy online. So don't get me started on that. As much as I'd like to not buy these items I am currently forced to. However, I do intend to continue to NOT buy beauty items that are animal tested. That I will not budge on. And I am able to do so because there are many items on the market now that are cruelty-free that are available to me in CVS or Walgreens.

So, yeah. Until I am rich or better off financially, I will only be fighting the animal testing through beauty products. That is the area that is most tested on animals anyway, so it's all good. For now..

Well that is all from Miss Wendy. See ya' all again!

Put a stop to Animal Cruelty!

Do it now!
I just have come to a realization, that I can NOT live with myself any longer if I was WELL aware the products I use everyday were the cause of an innocent animal being hurt, in any way at all!

It's sad too, because most products sold in the stores ARE tested on animals. If not the product then it's ingredients. *sigh* Very sad indeed. So, in order to live with myself I have decided that I will do all in my power to NOT buy from companies that test on animals. As best as I can at least. Because realistically, if you are not able to spend the extra $ on a product that does not test on animals and you will starve or otherwise die or something without buying the product that does test on animals, then it becomes survival and then it is too bad for you, who have to spend that money on that evil product. But what can you do?

Anyway, that being said..you try your damn hardest to NOT be put is such a situation. And stay informed. Always stay informed on what products are safe and what are not. Obviously you won't buy a product that is bad for you just because it's cruelty-free. That would just be retarded! lol

So after that saying all that now, I will proceed to list some products(not all because that would be a very LONG list lol) that are cruelty-free. Here we go..

P.S. for the cruelty-free list I'm going to just do beauty, since I do not really KNOW what products out there do not test on animals as of yet. I know who does, but as far as those who don't I'm only familiar with cosmetics..sorry.
  • Almay
  • Avon
  • Bath and Body Works
  • Bobbi Brown
  • Bonne Bell
  • Burt's Bees
  • Clinique
  • E.L.F.
  • Estée Lauder
  • Hard Candy
  • Hello Kitty
  • Kiss
  • M.A.C.
  • NARS
  • NYX
  • Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics
  • Revlon
  • Urban Decay
  • Victoria Secret
  • Wet 'n Wild

So above is the do not test list. Below will be the do test list.

All companies listed below DO; do animal testing. So I will try very hard to NOT buy products from them. And I encourage you all to do the same.

  • Procter&Gamble
  • Johnson&Johnson
  • Church&Dwight
  • Clorox
  • Lóréal
  • Cover Girl
  • Maybelline
  • SOS
  • Arm&Hammer
  • Mr. Clean
  • Air Wick
  • Band-aid
  • Carefree
  • Always
  • Clairol
  • Clean&Clear
  • Neutrogena
  • Olay
And many others..I tried to just list some of the most popular brands though.

Okay, so with all that being listed and said. I will wrap this up. Because it's getting rather long I think ^_^;

Here is a link to a search list for cruelty-free and animal tested products: Cruelty Search
Here is a link to the Leaping Bunny organization to help you go cruelty-free: Leaping Bunny

Both of those sites will also have information to lead you to more information to help stop animal cruelty in not only the U.S. but all over the world. One person may not think they can make a difference. But if that one person can convince more people to join in the fight then they can and will make a difference!
